Trekking in Sapa Through Muong Hoa Valley Itinerary
Sapa – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Sapa (~ 12km)
8h30: Meet up with your local guide at the hotel or our office and start trekking.
Beginning of the adventure, from the main road we followed a small road down the valley to Y Linh Ho village settled by the Muong Hoa stream, and from here to Lao Chai village of the Black H’mong.
Here, we will see another world as the atmosphere in Y Linh Ho village is very quiet, not bustling like tourist attractions inside Sapa town. Coming to the village, visitors will be immersed in the natural scenery of the beautiful unspoiled countryside with the rice terraces spread across the hillsides, and green cornfields. The Hoang Lien Son mountain range stands like a giant wall filled with terraced fields on the surface and the Muong Hoa stream.
The simple stilt houses in the heart of the mountain, typical of mountainous ethnic people, you also see the shy beauty of the beautiful H’mong girls with unique brocade costumes and innocent highland babies.
This village has a lot of black H’Mong people living, which is one of the biggest minority groups in the Sapa area. They have their own language and wear traditional indigo blue clothing, besides, rudimentary houses, and stone walls around the home will make visitors feel interesting, and with lifestyles, and beliefs unique to the H’mong people.
12h00: Having lunch in a local restaurant of H’mong people in Lao Chai village with special local foods.
Lao Chai is a village located deep in the valley, surrounded by mountains and unique terraced fields, stretching to the door of the house, seemingly like silk ribbons. From Lao Chai, you look far away and you will see the Hoang Lien Son range while you walk through the rice fields and feel the scent of rice and grass.
H’Mong people settle here and have local foods to make visitors feel sincerity sent by local people to visitors after the trekking.
13h00: Continue the journey to Ta Van village (1.200m) to visit the Giay (Giáy) people.
Ta Van village has been home to the H’Mong ethnic group for a long time, in addition, there are also Red Dao and Giay people. Besides the rice terraces near Muong Hoa stream, and the corn hills, Ta Van is also the busiest village with the lifestyles of many ethnic groups, there are sidewalks on the streets and pretty homestays.
Giay is a fairly small minority group of about 38.000 people who live mainly in the mountains in Northwest Vietnam. The development has meant that some of their old customs have been lost but many women still wear traditional shirts with a purple, blue, or green color. The Giay houses are built of wood and bamboo with a clay floor.
14h30: After visiting Ta Van village, our car awaits to take you back to your hotel in Sapa.
Optional: At the end of the adventure, let’s have a happy ending, you can enjoy relaxing moments with indigenous herbal baths, foot baths and massages, and nice food by locals for good choices.
